Who Intends to Enroll in Entrepreneurship Education? Entrepreneurial Self-Identity as a Precursor

Entrepreneurial self-identity is attracting increasing attention as a potentially relevant variable in explaining the entrepreneurial process. So far, most research treats entrepreneurial self-identity as a consequence of, or, at the most, as being developed through the start-up process. In this article, in contrast, we analyze its role as a previous element that helps determine the entrepreneurial intention of individuals, the perceived usefulness of entrepreneurship education, and, indirectly, their interest in participating in entrepreneurship education courses. Adriano Olivetti (1901-1960) was the promoter of an unprecedented business project that not only concerned the economic sphere, but also included architecture, social development, politics, the value of the person and of the culture. This paper examines the educational role played by culture in the Olivetti’s project as a way of human growth. To clarify the identity of the Olivetti’s culture, various sources were questioned: the personal library, the editorial choices, his coworkers and the good educational practices carried out in the Olivetti factory. This article concerns the lessons that Aldo Capitini dedicated to the Montessori Method, in Pisa University (1948-49) and in Cagliari University (1959-60). Beyond the common opinion that interprets the two theories of education as similar, the criticism that Capitini did to Maria Montessori was intended to clarify his education theory of the co-presence. Sympathizing with the neo-idealistic and secular critiques, Capitini denounced the limits of the Montessori proposal regarding some subjects: scientific pedagogy, method, didactic material, liberation of the child, religion, peace. In questo articolo viene proposta una ricostruzione storica delle relazioni educative familiari dell’Italia degli anni Cinquanta. Dallo studio dei diversi generi cinematografici diffusisi in quegli anni (neorealismo, melò e commedia) emerge l’immagine di una famiglia in transizione, divisa tra il vecchio e il nuovo. Il cinema neorealista descriveva la crisi del modello educativo autoritario, il melò rappresentava i difficili rapporti tra uomo e donna, la commedia si faceva interprete delle nuove conflittualità relazionali vissute all’interno della famiglia nucleare, sia tra padre e madre sia tra genitori e figli.
